Yksivaihejärjestelmiin

Yksivaihejärjestelmiin refers to single-phase electrical systems. These are the most common type of electrical power distribution used in homes and small businesses. In a single-phase system, the alternating current (AC) flows back and forth along two wires: a phase wire and a neutral wire. The voltage in the phase wire alternates sinusoidally with respect to the neutral wire. This alternating voltage drives electric current through connected appliances.

The primary advantage of single-phase systems is their simplicity and lower cost compared to three-phase systems. They are sufficient for powering most residential and light commercial loads, such as lighting, small motors, and electronic devices. Standard household outlets are designed for single-phase power. The voltage levels typically vary depending on the region, with common values being 120V or 230V. While sufficient for many applications, single-phase power is less efficient for very large loads or for transmitting power over long distances. It also results in pulsating torque for motors, which can cause vibrations and reduced efficiency in some motor types compared to the smoother operation of three-phase systems.
