There are several types of individual interviews. Structured interviews follow a rigid script with predetermined questions asked in a specific order, allowing for easy comparison of responses. Semi-structured interviews offer more flexibility, with a set of core questions but allowing the interviewer to deviate and ask follow-up questions based on the participant's answers. Unstructured interviews are the most conversational, with only a general topic in mind and questions arising spontaneously during the discussion.

Individual interviews are valuable for their ability to explore complex issues and uncover nuances that might be missed in other research methods. They allow for the collection of rich qualitative data, providing deep insights into individual experiences. However, they can be time-consuming to conduct and analyze, and the interviewer's presence can sometimes influence participant responses. The interpretation of data is also subjective and relies heavily on the interviewer's skill.
