Wärmezufuhr

Wärmezufuhr refers to the process of adding thermal energy to a system or substance. This energy transfer increases the internal energy of the object, typically leading to a rise in its temperature, a change in its state (such as melting or boiling), or both. Heat can be transferred through various mechanisms, including conduction, convection, and radiation. Conduction involves the transfer of heat through direct contact between particles. Convection is the transfer of heat through the movement of fluids (liquids or gases). Radiation is the transfer of heat through electromagnetic waves, which can travel through a vacuum.

In thermodynamics, Wärmezufuhr is often represented by the symbol Q, and it is a fundamental concept in understanding energy transformations. For example, when water is heated on a stove, thermal energy is supplied to the water molecules, causing them to move faster and increasing the water's temperature. If enough heat is added, the water will eventually boil and turn into steam, demonstrating a change of state. The amount of heat required to raise the temperature of a substance by a certain amount depends on its specific heat capacity, which is a material property. Conversely, the removal of thermal energy from a system is known as Wärmeabfuhr, or heat rejection.
