Wirbelsäule
Wirbelsäule is the German word for spine or vertebral column. It is a complex structure composed of 33 vertebrae, divided into five regions: the cervical spine (neck), thoracic spine (chest), lumbar spine (lower back), sacrum, and coccyx (tailbone). The spine serves multiple vital functions, including providing structural support for the body, enabling movement and flexibility, and protecting the spinal cord, a crucial part of the central nervous system.
The vertebrae are separated by intervertebral discs, which act as shock absorbers and allow for spinal flexibility.
Disorders affecting the Wirbelsäule can range from minor strains to severe conditions like herniated discs, scoliosis,
