WACC beräkning, or Weighted Average Cost of Capital calculation, is a fundamental financial concept used to determine a company's overall cost of capital. It represents the average rate of return a company expects to pay to its investors, including both debt holders and equity holders. The calculation is crucial for evaluating investment opportunities and assessing a company's financial health.

The WACC is calculated by taking the proportion of debt and equity in a company's capital structure and multiplying it by the respective costs of debt and equity. The cost of debt is typically the interest rate a company pays on its borrowings, adjusted for the tax deductibility of interest payments. The cost of equity, on the other hand, is more complex to determine and often uses models like the Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM).

The formula for WACC is typically expressed as: WACC = (E/V * Re) + (D/V * Rd * (1-Tc)). Here, E represents the market value of equity, D represents the market value of debt, V is the total market value of the company's financing (E + D), Re is the cost of equity, Rd is the cost of debt, and Tc is the corporate tax rate.

A lower WACC generally indicates a lower risk for investors and a more efficient use of capital by the company. Conversely, a higher WACC suggests higher risk or a less optimal capital structure. Companies strive to minimize their WACC to maximize shareholder value. It is a key metric used in discounted cash flow (DCF) analysis to determine the present value of future cash flows.
