Västgötabanken
Västgötabanken was a Swedish bank founded in 1864 as the Skaraborgs Läns Hypoteksförening. It later changed its name to Västgötabanken. The bank was headquartered in Skövde and primarily served customers in the Västergötland region of Sweden. Over its history, Västgötabanken grew to become a significant regional financial institution. It offered a range of banking services, including personal and business accounts, loans, and mortgages. In the late 20th century, the Swedish banking sector underwent significant consolidation. Västgötabanken was acquired by Föreningsbanken in 1997. Following this merger, Föreningsbanken itself later merged with Handelsbanken in 2000. Therefore, the independent existence of Västgötabanken ceased as its operations were integrated into larger banking entities. The legacy of Västgötabanken can be seen in the continued presence of its former branches and customer base within the broader Swedish banking landscape.
