Vulkanbågar
Vulkanbågar, often translated as volcanic arcs, are long, curving chains of volcanoes. They are typically found on the overriding plate of a convergent plate boundary where an oceanic plate is subducting beneath another plate, which can be either oceanic or continental. As the oceanic plate descends into the Earth's mantle, it heats up and releases water. This water lowers the melting point of the mantle rock above it, causing it to melt and form magma. This magma, being less dense than the surrounding rock, rises to the surface and erupts, creating a chain of volcanoes.
The shape of a volcanic arc is a direct consequence of the subduction process. The curved nature
