Visitrelated

Visitrelated is a term used in web analytics and user-journey analysis to describe a link or association between two or more visits. It is not a fixed metric in itself, but a conceptual cluster of relationships that help analysts trace how a user’s interactions unfold over time or how visits contribute to outcomes such as conversions or engagement.

In data models, visitrelated is typically represented by a relationship record or a derived field that connects visit identifiers. Common implementations include a related_visit_ids array attached to a visit record, a separate relation table with columns like visit_id, related_visit_id, and relation_type, or an inferred link based on shared user_id, cookie or device identifiers within a defined time window.

Relationships are usually defined by criteria such as: same user identity (user_id or persistent cookie), temporal proximity (two visits occurring within a specified window, such as 24 or 48 hours), shared device or platform, or referral/campaign lineage that ties visits along a marketing attribution path. Types of visitrelated links include predecessor-successor sequences, co-visitation within the same session, and cross-session links that indicate a continued journey or attributed touchpoints.

Applications include path analysis and sequence modeling to understand user journeys, attribution modeling to assign credit across visits, personalization and recommendation systems that adapt to recent activity, and churn or retention analysis that links early visits to later engagement.

Considerations include privacy and data governance, data quality, the choice of time window, handling of bots or noise, and potential biases introduced by deduplication or cross-device stitching.
