Vedeno

Vedeno is a rural locality (selo) and the administrative center of Vedensky District in the Chechen Republic, Russia. It is located in the eastern part of Chechnya, in the mountainous North Caucasus region, within the Vedeno River valley near the border with Dagestan.

Historically, the area forms part of the highland Chechen lands. In the post-Soviet period it was affected by the Chechen Wars, with fighting in the 1990s and early 2000s and later stabilization and reconstruction.

Demographics and culture: The population is predominantly ethnic Chechen, with Russian and other minorities in smaller numbers. The local population predominantly adheres to Sunni Islam. The Chechen language is widely spoken alongside Russian.

Economy and infrastructure: The economy is based on agriculture and animal husbandry, with forestry and small-scale trade. The selo is connected by regional roads to Grozny and other towns, with basic public services including schools and a medical clinic.

Administrative status: Vedeno serves as the administrative center of Vedensky District and is incorporated as a rural locality within the district's municipality.
