Vaskulariseerumine

Vaskulariseerumine refers to the process by which blood vessels form within a tissue or organ. This is a crucial biological phenomenon that is essential for growth, development, and repair. New blood vessels can arise through two main mechanisms: vasculogenesis and angiogenesis.

Vasculogenesis is the de novo formation of blood vessels from precursor cells called angioblasts. This process primarily occurs during embryonic development. Angioblasts aggregate and differentiate to form primitive vascular networks.

Angiogenesis, on the other hand, is the formation of new blood vessels from pre-existing ones. This process is more common in adult organisms and is activated in response to various stimuli, such as low oxygen levels or tissue injury. Angiogenesis plays a vital role in wound healing, the menstrual cycle, and the growth of tumors. The process involves the sprouting of new capillaries from existing vessels, guided by signaling molecules. The formation of a functional vascular network ensures adequate oxygen and nutrient supply to tissues and facilitates the removal of waste products. Disruption of vaskulariseerumine can lead to various diseases, including ischemic conditions and certain types of cancer.
