Valtratetype

Valtratetype is a conceptual data type used in information models to encapsulate a numeric value together with an associated rate parameter that governs how the value changes over time or in response to conditions. It appears in theoretical discussions of valuation systems, financial modeling, and simulation engines, where both the current amount and the rate of change must be tracked as a single unit.

Structure and semantics: A valtratetype typically includes at least two fields: value, a numeric quantity representing the current amount; and rate, a numeric multiplier representing the per-period change. Optional fields may include timestamp or period, currency or unit, and metadata such as source or confidence. Semantics depend on the model: rate may represent a linear increment (new_value = value + rate per period) or a multiplicative growth factor (new_value = value × (1 + rate) per period). For compounded evolution, time t yields value × (1 + rate)^t.

Examples: In a budgeting model, valtratetype with value 100 and rate 0.05 can project 105 after one period under linear assumptions, or 105 after one period under simple growth; after n periods it yields 100 × (1.05)^n with compounding. In a game economy, valtratetype can model asset value with a depreciation or appreciation rate, evolving as time progresses.
