Vakuumisolerglas

Vakuumisolerglas, also known as vacuum insulated glass or VIG, is a type of glass that incorporates a vacuum between two glass panes to provide superior insulation properties. This technology was developed to address the limitations of traditional double-glazed windows, which, while providing some insulation, still allow significant heat transfer.

The core of Vakuumisolerglas is the vacuum layer, which is created by evacuating the air between the two glass panes. This vacuum acts as a barrier to heat transfer, significantly reducing the thermal conductivity of the glass. The vacuum is maintained by a hermetic seal around the edges of the glass panes, which prevents air from re-entering the space.

In addition to the vacuum, Vakuumisolerglas often includes a desiccant, such as silica gel, to absorb any remaining moisture that might enter the vacuum layer. This desiccant helps to maintain the integrity of the vacuum and the insulation properties of the glass.

Vakuumisolerglas is used in various applications where high levels of insulation are required, such as in energy-efficient buildings, greenhouses, and solar thermal systems. Its ability to provide excellent thermal insulation while maintaining transparency makes it a valuable material in these contexts. However, the manufacturing process for Vakuumisolerglas is more complex and costly than that for traditional glass, which can be a consideration for widespread adoption.
