Vac1p

Vac1p, also known as Vacuolating-1 protein, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the VAC14 gene. This gene is a member of the vacuolating family of proteins, which are involved in various cellular processes including endocytosis, exocytosis, and vesicular trafficking.

The VAC14 gene is located on chromosome 11 and spans approximately 12 kilobases. It consists of 10 exons and encodes a protein of 1,245 amino acids. The encoded protein is a type I membrane protein with a predicted molecular weight of 137.9 kDa. The protein contains a vacuolating domain, which is characteristic of the vacuolating family of proteins, and is involved in the formation of membrane protrusions.
