Vízdesztilláció

Vízdesztilláció is the Hungarian term for water distillation. It is a process used to purify water by heating it to its boiling point and collecting the condensed steam. This method separates water from impurities such as dissolved salts, minerals, and organic matter.

The process begins by heating the water in a still. As the water evaporates, it leaves behind non-volatile impurities. The steam then travels to a condenser, where it is cooled and reverts to liquid water. This purified water, known as distillate, is collected separately.

Water distillation is an effective method for producing highly pure water, often used in laboratories, medical settings, and for certain industrial applications. It is also a method of water purification that can be employed in survival situations, although it is energy-intensive. While distillation removes a wide range of contaminants, it is important to note that some volatile organic compounds with boiling points close to that of water may not be entirely separated. The energy required for heating and cooling makes it less efficient than some other purification methods for large-scale domestic use.
