Uutissyötteet, also known as news feeds, are a way for users to receive updated content from websites without having to manually visit each site. These feeds are typically delivered in a standardized format, most commonly RSS (Really Simple Syndication) or Atom. Websites that offer news feeds make their latest articles, blog posts, or other content available in a structured data file. Users then subscribe to these feeds using a news aggregator or reader application.

When a website publishes new content, it updates its news feed. The news aggregator periodically checks the subscribed feeds for these updates. Upon detecting new items, the aggregator downloads them and presents them to the user in a consolidated list. This allows individuals to stay informed about topics of interest from multiple sources in one convenient place, saving time and effort. Many websites, including news organizations, blogs, and e-commerce sites, provide these feeds as a service to their audience.
