Umvoti

Umvoti is a district municipality within the uThukela District in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. Its administrative centre is the town of Greytown. The name "Umvoti" is derived from the Zulu word for "place of the milkwood tree". The municipality is largely rural, with agriculture forming a significant part of its economy, particularly forestry, maize, and dairy farming.

The area has a rich history, having been settled by various groups over centuries. European settlers, primarily the Voortrekkers, arrived in the 19th century, establishing settlements like Greytown.
