Töövõimetuspensionid

Töövõimetuspensionid, known in English as disability pensions, are a form of social security benefit provided in Estonia to individuals who have lost their ability to work due to illness or injury. These pensions are intended to provide financial support and partially compensate for lost earnings when a person's working capacity is reduced or completely lost.

To be eligible for a töövõimetuspension, an individual must meet specific criteria related to their degree of incapacity and have a sufficient period of employment history to qualify for social insurance. The assessment of work capacity is typically carried out by the Estonian Social Insurance Board (Sotsiaalkindlustusamet) based on medical evaluations and other relevant documentation.

There are different levels of disability pensions, usually categorized by the degree of work incapacity, which influences the amount of the pension received. The pension is financed through social contributions paid by employers and employees. The system aims to ensure that individuals unable to work due to health reasons receive a basic level of income and support. Pension amounts are subject to periodic review and may be adjusted based on changes in the individual's health status or legislative amendments.
