Työvalo

Työvalo is a Finnish term that translates to "work permit" in English. It is a document issued by the Finnish Migration Office that allows a foreign national to work in Finland. The permit is typically granted for a specific period and for a specific job or type of work. To obtain a työvalo, the applicant must meet certain requirements, including having a valid passport, a job offer from a Finnish employer, and proof of sufficient financial means to support themselves during their stay in Finland.

The työvalo is not a residence permit, and it does not allow the holder to live in Finland permanently. However, it can be extended or converted into a residence permit if the holder meets the criteria for permanent residence. The työvalo is also not a visa, and it does not allow the holder to enter Finland. To enter Finland, the holder must have a valid Schengen visa or another type of entry permit.

The Finnish Migration Office is responsible for issuing työvalos and overseeing their use. The office has the power to revoke a työvalo if the holder is found to be working illegally or if they fail to meet the requirements of the permit. Employers in Finland are also responsible for ensuring that their foreign workers have valid työvalos and that they are working legally. Failure to do so can result in penalties for the employer.
