Tyhjiökuivaaminen, also known as vacuum drying, is a process used to remove moisture from a material by heating it in a vacuum. This method is particularly effective for heat-sensitive substances that could degrade or decompose at higher temperatures. By lowering the pressure, the boiling point of water (or other solvents) is reduced, allowing evaporation to occur at much lower temperatures than under atmospheric pressure.

The equipment used for vacuum drying typically includes a vacuum chamber, a heating system, and a vacuum pump. The material to be dried is placed inside the chamber, which is then sealed and evacuated. Heat is applied to the material, either directly or indirectly, to accelerate the evaporation process.
