Twixt

Twixt is an archaic or literary preposition meaning between. It appears in older and dialect writing as a contraction or variant of betwixt or between. In modern standard English, the form between is used almost exclusively, but twixt survives in poetry, historical fiction, and certain proper-noun titles. The expression betwixt and between is a set phrase used to indicate indeterminacy or liminality.

In addition to its use as a word, Twixt is the title of a 2011 American mystery horror film written and directed by Francis Ford Coppola. The film stars Val Kilmer as Hall Baltimore, a writer who experiences visions after visiting a small town. It premiered at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival and was released in select theaters and on demand; it received mixed reviews and is noted for its surreal, dreamlike visuals.
