Tvåelektronoxidation is a chemical process where a molecule or ion loses two electrons. This results in an increase in the oxidation state of the element that undergoes oxidation. Often, this type of oxidation involves the breaking of a bond or the removal of a hydrogen atom along with an electron. A common example is the oxidation of alcohols to aldehydes or ketones, where two hydrogen atoms are removed along with two electrons.
