Tuzi

Tuzi is a town and the administrative center of the Municipality of Tuzi in Montenegro. It lies in the central part of the country, near the capital Podgorica and close to the border with Albania.

Before the establishment of the municipality in 2018, Tuzi was part of Podgorica Municipality. In that year, Tuzi became a separate municipality, a status it holds as the seat of its own local government.

Demography and language: The area has a mixed population, with Albanian-speaking communities forming a significant portion, alongside Montenegrins and other groups. Albanian and Montenegrin are commonly used in public life.

Geography and economy: The town sits in the wider Zeta plain and serves as a market and transit hub for the surrounding rural settlements. The local economy is based on small businesses, trade, services, and agriculture.

Culture and transport: Tuzi hosts religious and cultural institutions, including mosques and churches, reflecting its ethnic and religious diversity. It is connected by road to Podgorica and to neighboring Albanian towns, serving as a gateway between Montenegro and Albania.
