Tuotantolähtöisyys, also known as production orientation, is a business philosophy that focuses primarily on the efficient production of goods and services. Companies operating under this orientation believe that consumers will favor products that are widely available and affordable. The main concern is with optimizing manufacturing processes, streamlining operations, and achieving economies of scale to lower production costs.

This approach often leads to a narrow product line, as the emphasis is on making a large quantity of a limited number of items. Innovation and product development are secondary to the efficiency of production. The assumption is that if a product can be made cheaply and in large volumes, it will naturally sell well.

Tuotantolähtöisyys was prevalent during the industrial revolution when demand often outstripped supply. In such markets, the ability to produce goods quickly and at a low cost was a significant competitive advantage. However, in today's highly competitive and consumer-driven markets, a pure production orientation can be risky. It may fail to account for changing consumer preferences, the need for product differentiation, and the importance of quality and customer service. While efficiency in production remains crucial, it is usually combined with other marketing strategies to ensure market success.
