Tunnetuimpia

Tunnetuimpia is a Finnish linguistic form meaning “the most well-known” or “the most famous” when referring to multiple items. It is the partitive plural form of the superlative of the adjective tunnettu, which means well-known. The base adjective tunnettu derives from tuntea, to know or feel. The superlative is formed with the suffix -in; in plural partitive the ending becomes -impia: tunnetuimpia. Therefore tunnetuimpia modifies nouns in the partitive case or indefinite plural, e.g., tunnetuimpia kirjoja — “the most well-known books.” In the nominative plural the form is tunnetuimmat, while the singular nominative is tunnetuin (the most well-known).
