Tukay
Gabdulla Tukay, also known as Gabdulla Tuqay, was a Tatar poet and a central figure in the emergence of modern Tatar literature. Born in 1886 in the Kazan Governorate of the Russian Empire (in present-day Tatarstan), Tukay became one of the most influential voices in Tatar language and culture during the early 20th century. He spent his early years in a Tatar-speaking environment and began publishing poetry in local periodicals, later working as a journalist and editor.
