Trusopt
Trusopt, also known by its generic name dorzolamide hydrochloride, is a prescription medication used to treat glaucoma and ocular hypertension. It belongs to a class of drugs called carbonic anhydrase inhibitors. Glaucoma is a condition that can damage the optic nerve, often due to high pressure inside the eye. Ocular hypertension is characterized by elevated intraocular pressure without optic nerve damage. Trusopt works by reducing the production of aqueous humor, a fluid in the eye that contributes to intraocular pressure. By decreasing this fluid production, it helps to lower the pressure within the eye.
