Troponinnivåer refer to the measured concentration of troponin proteins in the blood. Troponin is a complex of proteins found in the muscle tissue of the heart and skeletal muscles, playing a crucial role in muscle contraction. Specifically, troponin I and troponin T are forms that are predominantly found in cardiac muscle. When heart muscle is damaged, such as during a myocardial infarction (heart attack), troponin proteins are released into the bloodstream.
