Trophoblastism
Trophoblastism refers to the process by which the trophoblast, the outer layer of cells of the early embryo (blastocyst), invades the maternal uterine wall. This invasion is crucial for the establishment of pregnancy, as it allows for the formation of the placenta, which facilitates nutrient and gas exchange between the mother and the developing fetus. The trophoblast cells differentiate into various types, including syncytiotrophoblast and cytotrophoblast, each with specialized functions in implantation and placental development.
The invasion of the uterine decidua by trophoblast cells is a tightly regulated process involving complex
