These two periods together constitute a significant portion of the Mesozoic Era, often broadly categorized as the "Age of Dinosaurs." The Triassic period, which followed the Permian-Triassic extinction event, marked the beginning of the recovery of life on Earth and the emergence of the first dinosaurs. It was characterized by a warm, dry climate and the presence of the supercontinent Pangaea.
Following the Triassic was the Jurassic period, renowned for its diversification of dinosaurs, including giants like
