Trenngrad

Trenngrad is a mid-sized city situated in the eastern part of the Republic of Vanad, positioned on the left bank of the Reeter River within a temperate continental climate zone. The city sits at approximately 250 meters above sea level and is surrounded by gently rolling hills, forested areas, and an extensive network of secondary roads that connect it to the national highway system.

The earliest recorded settlement in the area dates back to the late 13th century, when small agrarian communities established themselves along the fertile floodplain. During the 18th and 19th centuries, Trenngrad became a focal point for marble quarrying, leveraging the high-quality white marble that is mined from surrounding cliffs. The marble industry fostered a rapid population increase and the construction of administrative and residential infrastructure, turning Trenngrad into a regional economic hub.

By the mid-20th century, the city’s economy diversified to include light manufacturing, forestry products, and technology services, while tourism emerged around the city's historic marble works, scenic river walks, and nearby nature reserves. Trenngrad hosts an annual cultural festival featuring traditional music, dance, and local cuisine, which attracts visitors from across Vanad.

The municipal government includes a mayor and city council, and Trenngrad administers several neighborhoods with distinct identities. Public services encompass a primary and secondary school, a regional healthcare clinic, a public library, and a small municipal museum dedicated to the history of marble extraction and local crafts. Public transport is facilitated by a bus terminal that links Trenngrad with neighboring towns and the capital city, ensuring accessibility for both residents and visitors.
