Treban

Treban is a fictional town and commune in the central valley of the kingdom of Valoria in the world of Ardentia. It serves as the administrative seat of Treban District and is a minor regional hub for commerce, agriculture, and culture. The name Treban is of uncertain origin; local tradition ties it to the triad of early settlements formed around a river crossing.

The town lies along the Treban River, on a gentle plateau about 60 kilometers north of Valoria’s capital. The surrounding countryside is a mix of orchard fields, grain plots, and deciduous woodland, with a temperate climate that features mild winters and warm summers.

Treban was founded in the 11th century by itinerant traders and grew as a market town. In the 18th and 19th centuries, a rail connection spurred industrial activity and population growth. The town has since diversified into services and tourism while retaining a historic core.

The population is around 12,000 residents. The town is governed by a municipal council headed by a mayor, with administration addressing local needs and coordinating with the wider Valorian government.

Its economy centers on agriculture, small-scale manufacturing, and retail services. Treban also attracts visitors to its historic center and riverside park.

Notable sites include Saint Lera’s Church, the 12-arch Treban Bridge, and the Market Square. An annual harvest festival is a focal community event. Treban is connected by roads and rail to the regional network, with a local primary and secondary school and a small regional hospital.
