Transgeen
Transgeen is a term used in genetics and molecular biology to refer to an organism that has been genetically modified to contain DNA from another species. This introduced DNA is known as a transgene. The process of creating a transgeen is called genetic engineering or transgenesis. It involves identifying a specific gene in one organism that confers a desired trait, isolating that gene, and then inserting it into the genome of another organism. This allows the recipient organism to express the trait encoded by the transgene.
Transgeen organisms, often referred to as genetically modified organisms (GMOs), have been developed for various purposes.
