Townthen

Townthen is a town and municipality in Veridia, located in the central Lowlands along the Lume River, about 70 kilometers from the capital.

The settlement dates to the 12th century and grew around river trade and milling. It gained municipal status in the early 20th century after the railway arrived.

Townthen covers about 12.3 square kilometers, with gentle hills to the north and a temperate, maritime climate. The Lume River shapes its core neighborhoods.

As of 2020, Townthen had about 6,400 residents. The town is predominantly residential, with a small but steady mix of families, older adults, and commuters.

Its economy centers on agriculture, light manufacturing, and local services, supplemented by small businesses and tourism tied to its historic center and riverside trails.

Townthen is governed by a mayor and a twelve-member council, elected to four-year terms. It participates in regional planning through Veridia's Lowlands District.

Notable sites include the Town Gate, the Old Mill, and Town Park. The annual River Festival highlights local music, crafts, and food.

Townthen is connected by regional roads and a local railway station, with daily services to larger cities. It has two primary schools and a shared middle/high school.
