Tormin

Tormin is a fictional coastal city in the fantasy setting of Eldara. It lies along the western shore at the mouth of the Tormin River and serves as the capital of the province of Northshore. The city features stone fortifications, a busy harbor, and a mix of merchant houses and guild halls.

Historically, Tormin was founded in the early centuries of Eldaran history by seafaring clans and grew into a regional trading hub that connected inland farms with oceanic routes. It endured pirate sieges in the late medieval period and prospered through salt production, shipbuilding, and river trade.

The old town surrounds the harbor, while newer districts extend along the river. The citadel sits on a bluff above the harbor, and a lighthouse known as the Beacon of Daur marks the entrance to the port.

Tormin's economy centers on fisheries, shipbuilding, and trade in spices, timber, and metals. The city is governed by a council of aldermen elected by guilds, with a ceremonial lord mayor who presides over official ceremonies.

Cultural life centers on markets and guild halls. Notable sites include the Lantern Gate, the Guildhall of Merchants, and the Temple of the Tide. An annual Market Week draws traders from across Eldara.
