Topogenic
Topogenic refers to topogenesis, the process by which the topology or arrangement of a molecule within a membrane is established. In biology, topogenic signals are peptide segments that determine how a protein will be oriented and integrated into a membrane during synthesis. The main elements are signal peptides that direct ribosome complexes to the endoplasmic reticulum (in eukaryotes) and internal sequences that act as start-transfer or stop-transfer signals.
