Tidsuafhængig refers to a characteristic or property that does not change over time. In physics, this concept is often encountered in the context of quantum mechanics and classical mechanics. A system described as tidsuafhængig implies that its fundamental state or governing equations remain constant, irrespective of the passage of time.

For example, in quantum mechanics, a tidsuafhængig Schrödinger equation describes a system whose wavefunction's probability distribution is stationary. This means that while the phase of the wavefunction might evolve, the observable properties of the system, such as energy levels, do not change. Such states are known as stationary states.
