Thiophosphonates
Thiophosphonates are organophosphorus compounds with the general formula R-P(S)(OR')R'' or R-P(S)(SR')R''. They are characterized by a phosphorus atom double-bonded to a sulfur atom, and single-bonded to at least one carbon atom, and other heteroatoms like oxygen or sulfur. These compounds are structurally related to phosphonates, where the sulfur atom replaces an oxygen atom in the P=O double bond. The sulfur atom can be attached to phosphorus through a double bond (P=S) or a single bond (P-S).
Thiophosphonates find applications in various fields. Some have been explored as pesticides due to their biological
