Tetherball

Tetherball is a game played between two players or two teams of two players. The game is played with a ball tethered to a pole by a rope or cord. The objective of the game is to hit the ball in a way that the opposing player or team cannot return it. This is typically achieved by hitting the ball in a circular motion around the pole, with each player trying to hit the ball in the opposite direction of their opponent.

A tetherball pole is usually a metal pole about 10 feet (3 meters) tall with a ball attached to the top by a rope. The ball is typically a fist-sized rubber ball. The game is played on a circular court marked on the ground, with a line dividing the court into two halves.

To start a game, one player serves the ball by hitting it in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction. The other player must then hit the ball back in the opposite direction. Players continue to alternate hitting the ball until one player makes a mistake or is unable to return the ball. A mistake can include hitting the ball in the same direction as their opponent, touching the ball with anything other than their hand, or allowing the ball to hit them. The game is won when a player successfully wraps the rope around the pole in their direction of play, or when the opposing player commits a fault.

Tetherball is a popular recreational game, often found on playgrounds, in parks, and at backyard gatherings. It requires a combination of coordination, agility, and strategy. The simplicity of its rules and equipment makes it accessible to people of all ages.
