Termomagneettinen refers to phenomena that involve the interplay between temperature and magnetism. It encompasses effects where magnetic properties of a material are altered by changes in temperature, and conversely, where magnetic fields can influence temperature. One key concept within thermomagnetism is the Curie temperature, a critical point at which a ferromagnetic material loses its spontaneous magnetization and becomes paramagnetic. Above this temperature, the thermal vibrations of atoms overcome the magnetic alignment. Conversely, below the Curie temperature, materials can exhibit strong magnetic ordering.

Another significant thermomagnetic effect is the magnetocaloric effect, where a magnetic material experiences a temperature change when it is exposed to a varying magnetic field.
