Temperaturregulierung, also known as thermoregulation, is the process by which an organism maintains its internal body temperature within a certain range, regardless of external temperatures. This is a vital process for survival, as many biological functions, such as enzyme activity, rely on a stable temperature.
Organisms employ a variety of mechanisms for temperature regulation. In warm-blooded animals, or endotherms, this includes
Cold-blooded animals, or ectotherms, rely more on external sources of heat. They may bask in the sun
Plants also regulate their temperature through processes like transpiration, where water evaporation from leaves helps cool
Disruptions in temperature regulation can lead to hypothermia, a dangerous drop in body temperature, or hyperthermia,
