Telescopium

Telescopium is a small constellation located in the southern sky. It is one of the 88 modern constellations recognized by the International Astronomical Union. Telescopium was established by Nicolas Louis de Lacaille in the 18th century and represents a telescope.

The constellation is situated in the Milky Way and contains several interesting objects, though none are particularly bright. Its brightest star, Alpha Telescopii, is a blue subgiant with a visual magnitude of about 3.5. Another notable star is Eta Telescopii, a binary star system. Telescopium also hosts several globular clusters, including NGC 6584, and a planetary nebula, NGC 6750.

Due to its southern declination, Telescopium is best viewed from the Southern Hemisphere. It is a relatively inconspicuous constellation, meaning it does not contain any particularly bright or easily recognizable patterns of stars. Its neighboring constellations include Sagittarius, Pavo, Indus, and Microscopium. Telescopium is a part of the larger constellation family known as the Hercules family. It is a relatively young constellation, established in the 18th century, and is not associated with any ancient mythology.
