Teignbridge

Teignbridge is a local government district in Devon, England. Named after the River Teign, it covers a coastal and rural area in the county’s southern part, stretching from the coast at Dawlish and Teignmouth inland to the Teign Valley.

Major towns include Newton Abbot, the administrative centre, along with Teignmouth and Dawlish. The district is also home to numerous villages and parishes such as Bovey Tracey, Ashburton, Chudleigh, Kingsteignton, and Shaldon, as well as surrounding countryside and estuary habitats around the Teign Estuary.

History: Teignbridge District Council was established on 1 April 1974 as part of the Local Government Act 1972, consolidating several former urban and rural authorities in the area.
