Tawle
Tawle is a traditional Lebanese and Syrian board game played by two people. It is a variant of backgammon, with its own unique rules and strategic depth. The game is played on a board with 30 checkers, typically 15 of one color for each player, and two dice. The objective of Tawle is to move all of your checkers around the board and bear them off before your opponent does. The board has 24 points, which are triangular in shape. Players roll the dice to determine how many points they can move their checkers. Checkers can land on empty points, points occupied by one or more of the opponent's checkers (which is called "hitting" and sends the opponent's checker back to the start), or points occupied by one or more of their own checkers. A player cannot land on a point occupied by two or more of their opponent's checkers; this is known as being "blocked." There are several different versions of Tawle, including Tawle 31, Tawle 51, and Tawle 71, which differ in their scoring and winning conditions. The game requires a combination of luck from the dice rolls and skill in strategic checker placement and blocking.
