Taglionis

Taglionis refers to people bearing the Italian surname Taglioni. The name is of Italian origin and is most strongly associated with a notable 19th-century family of ballet dancers and choreographers.

Filippo Taglioni (1777–1871) was an Italian dancer and choreographer who worked for the Paris Opera Ballet and other companies. He is best known for choreographing La Sylphide (1832), a Romantic ballet that starred his daughter Marie Taglioni and helped define the era’s stylistic characteristics, including a focus on noble line and lyrical movement.

Marie Taglioni (1804–1884) became one of the most celebrated ballerinas of the Romantic period. Renowned for her light technique, ethereal presence, and pioneering use of pointe work, she helped popularize the use of pointe shoes and starred in several influential productions, notably La Sylphide. Her performances had a lasting impact on the development of ballet and contributed to the international spread of the art form in the 19th century.
