TRMT
TRMT refers to a family of enzymes known as tRNA nucleotidyltransferases. These enzymes are responsible for adding a conserved CCA sequence to the 3' end of transfer RNA (tRNA) molecules. This CCA addition is a crucial post-transcriptional modification that is essential for the proper function of tRNAs in protein synthesis. The CCA sequence acts as a binding site for aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases, the enzymes that attach specific amino acids to their corresponding tRNAs. Without the CCA tail, tRNAs cannot be charged with amino acids, and therefore cannot participate in translation.
There are different types of TRMT enzymes, often classified by the specific type of RNA they modify
