TLDnivået
TLDnivået, or Top Level Domain level, refers to the highest level in the hierarchical Domain Name System (DNS) of the Internet. It is the final segment of a domain name, appearing after the final dot. For example, in the domain name "example.com", the TLD is ".com". TLDs are categorized into two main types: generic top-level domains (gTLDs) and country code top-level domains (ccTLDs). gTLDs are intended for general use and include well-known examples like ".com", ".org", and ".net". ccTLDs are specific to particular countries or territories and are denoted by two-letter country codes, such as ".uk" for the United Kingdom or ".de" for Germany. The management and allocation of TLDs are governed by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), which oversees the process of introducing new TLDs to meet the evolving needs of the Internet community. The introduction of new gTLDs has expanded the range of available domain names, allowing for more creative and descriptive options. TLDnivået plays a crucial role in the functioning of the Internet, facilitating the organization and accessibility of websites worldwide.
