Sääminen

There are different types of traps and nets used in sääminen, including the traditional Finnish-style trap called "kalastuskaula," which is made of wood and consists of a series of mesh panels suspended between two frames. Other types of traps and nets include the "laulupotku," a system of pulleys and levers used to guide fish into a waiting net, and the "tynnyripotku," a type of trap that uses a series of wooden tuns anchored to the riverbed to catch fish.

Sääminen was an important economic activity in many Finnish communities, providing a means of livelihood for many people. Today, sääminen is mostly practiced for recreational purposes, and many Finns continue to enjoy this traditional method of fishing.
