Szulfonátos
Szulfonátos refers to a chemical compound or material that contains a sulfonate group, which has the general formula R-SO3-. This functional group is derived from sulfonic acid. Sulfonate groups are strongly acidic and are polar, making compounds containing them often soluble in water. They are frequently used as detergents, emulsifiers, and wetting agents due to their surfactant properties. Many organic dyes also contain sulfonate groups to enhance their solubility in water and their ability to bind to fabrics. In medicinal chemistry, sulfonate groups can be found in various drugs, influencing their pharmacokinetic properties such as absorption and distribution. The stability of the sulfonate group makes it a useful component in many industrial applications, including ion-exchange resins and polymers. The term can also be used adjectivally to describe substances that have undergone a sulfonation reaction, where a sulfonate group has been introduced onto another molecule.
