Szakaszhoz

Szakaszhoz is a Hungarian directional suffix form meaning "to the section" or "toward the section." It is formed by attaching the postpositional suffix -hoz to the noun szakasz (section) to indicate movement toward that section or a relation to it. In Hungarian, direction toward a location is expressed with one of three allomorphs—-hoz, -hez, or -höz—chosen according to vowel harmony; for szakasz, the appropriate form is -hoz, yielding szakaszhoz. The result is a single word that combines the base with the directional meaning.

Uses include indicating movement toward a section, as in A szerelő a szakaszhoz ment. (The technician went to the section.) It also appears in expressions of belonging or relation, for example A rész a szakaszhoz tartozik. (The part belongs to the section.) The compound szakaszhoz can participate in phrases like a szakaszhoz tartozó részek (parts belonging to the section), where szakaszhoz functions as a complement indicating the target of belonging.

Szakaszhoz is not a separate lexical item but an inflected form of szakasz used to express direction or relation.
