Syväterävyysalueen refers to the range of distances in front of and behind the point of focus in photography and videography where objects appear acceptably sharp. This zone is crucial for controlling what elements in a scene are in focus and which are blurred. It is determined by several factors, including the aperture of the lens, the focal length of the lens, and the distance to the subject.

A wide aperture, such as f/1.8 or f/2.8, results in a shallow syväterävyysalueen, meaning only a narrow band of the image will be in focus, effectively isolating the subject from the background.
